Temporary schemes begin to be implemented

Thanks to the 1300 people who have responded so far to the Dorset Safe Streets website. Your suggestions are helpful to building a better understanding of the needs at a local level.

All proposals will be examined for whether they can be implemented in the short term, or whether they should be considered as part of a longer term programme. All schemes will require support of the local Dorset Council Members and the local town or parish councils, and cannot have an undue impact on some other critical functions, such as emergency vehicles.

The first scheme to provide space for social distancing has been implemented in Wimborne and a few more schemes are in advanced stages of planning.

Please note that several proposals have been submitted that lie within the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area. BCP Council have their own programme of works in advanced planning and will not have the capacity to examine these in any detail.

Many thanks again,

Chris Peck
